GBP Conducts Relief Operation for Taal Volcano Victims
Representatives from Global Business Power Corporation (GBP) turned over relief goods to a community of 270 displaced families in Batangas as part of the Company’s efforts to aid the victims of the Taal Volcano eruption. These families, who used to reside in Taal Island, are temporarily sheltered in Tumaway Senior High School in Talisay, Batangas.
Through the generous donations of employees, banig, blanket, pillows, underwear, milk, diapers, canned goods, toiletries and other essential items were provided. On behalf of the beneficiaries, a representative from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) received GBP’s donation.
The Taal volcano erupted on January 12, 2020 which spewed continuous blasts of volcanic materials such as ash and debris and caused constant volcanic earthquakes. This prompted PHIVOLCS to subsequently issue Alert Level 4. It had caused millions-worth of damage, affected the lives of thousands of families, and halted businesses and schools for weeks. Around 1 million people were displaced by the eruption.
