Corporation
of the Philippines
Tracing its roots from the Visayas region and Mindoro island, GBP has carved its niche when it established baseload power plants in Cebu (through subsidiary Cebu Energy Development Corporation) and Iloilo (through subsidiary Panay Energy Development Corporation) to end the frequent brownouts in the region during the late 2000s. The commercial operations of GBP’s baseload power plants has stabilized power supply and has effectively transformed Cebu and Iloilo into dynamic engines of growth in the region.
Committed to serve the nation with its power supply requirements, GBP has expanded outside the Visayas region to include foothold in the emerging Mindanao market through a 50% equity stake in Alsons Thermal Energy Corporation (ATEC). ATEC owns Sarangani Energy Corporation and San Ramon Power, Inc.
GBP is wholly owned by MERALCO PowerGen Corporation (MGen) . In line with One MERALCO Group’s long-term sustainability agenda, GBP sets its sights on becoming a total sustainable energy solutions provider by pursuing diversified technologies that include renewable energy sources, by delivering energy services beyond power generation and by incorporating innovation at the heart of its strategy to grow the business.
