Cebu Energy Development Corporation (CEDC) owns and operates a 246 MW clean coal-fired power plant located in Toledo City, Cebu. CEDC is a consortium composed of Global Business Power, Aboitiz Power Corporation, and Vivant Energy Corporation with Formosa Heavy Industries Corporation providing the design and supply of CEDC’s equipment.
CEDC’s power plant is the first commercial clean-coal facility in the country, utilizing the state-of-the-art Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boiler technology.
No new baseload power plant was made available for the entire province of Cebu and neighboring islands in over 20 years prior to CEDC’s operations. With the assurance of stable power supply through CEDC, Cebu has witnessed the advent of rapid economic development, particularly in the areas of tourism, shipbuilding, retail shopping, and other major industries.
