BULACANSOL, GREENEARTH HERITAGE FOUNDATION PARTNER FOR TREE PLANTING ACTIVITY
Some volunteers and partners from San Miguel, Bulacan during the tree planting activity held last July 27 at Greenearth Heritage Foundation plantation site.
As part of its commitment to contribute to environmental protection, BulacanSol partnered with Greenearth Heritage Foundation, Inc. (GEHF) in a tree planting activity held last July 27 in San Miguel, Bulacan.
Through this collaboration, around 150 narra trees were planted by more than 30 individuals in the planting site of GEHF in Sitio Malapad na Parang, Brgy. Sibul, San Miguel, Bulacan, which is covered by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) National Greening Program (NGP).
The volunteers who participated in this initiative include the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) employees, local officials from the host barangays of Tibagan, Labne and San Juan, and site employees from BulacanSol.
To ensure the proper handling of seedlings, a demonstration was conducted by Aileen de Ocampo, Farm Manager and Site Administrator of GEHF, prior the actual planting activity.
“Planting trees is only an initial step in the process. Maintenance and frequent monitoring are equally important to ensure the success of the program. This is what we do,” said de Ocampo.
GEHF is a private, non-profit organization which was instituted to promote the livelihood of local farmers through sustainable agroforestry.
Moreover, Jason Gavina, CSR Luzon Head of Meralco PowerGen Corporation-Global Business Power (MGen-GBP) shared, “BulacanSol believes in growing with the community. We are happy to partner with Green Earth and our community stakeholders for this initiative which we wish to sustain through the years.”
SHARED RESPONSIBILITY. BulacanSol team, together with MENRO, Barangays Labne, San Juan and Tibagan volunteers planted native trees at the Greenearth Heritage Foundation plantation site.
This tree-planting activity is the company’s contribution to One Meralco’s One for Trees Program, which aims to plant five million trees by 2025.
BulacanSol—a 55-megawatt solar power plant in San Miguel, Bulacan, which is now providing clean energy to the Luzon Grid—is a joint venture between MGreen, Meralco PowerGen’s wholly owned renewable energy unit, and PowerSource Energy Holdings Corporation.
