PH Renewables leads tree planting activity in Rizal

Students from Pinugay Elementary School and solider from the Army’s 80 Infantry Battalion plant a tree during the PHRI One for Trees program.
Under One Meralco Foundation’s One for Trees program, PH Renewables Inc. (PHRI)—a subsidiary of MGen Renewable Energy, Inc. (MGreen)—led a tree planting activity last November 3 in partnership with the local government unit of Baras, Rizal.
Around 60 volunteers from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office, 80th Infantry Battalion of Armed Forces of the Philippines, Barangay Pinugay, and Pinugay Elementary School planted 200 narra seedlings in Sitio Milestone, Brgy. Pinugay, Baras, Rizal.
Barangay Pinugay, PHRI’s host barangay, will closely monitor the planted seedlings to ensure high survival rate.
“We are here not only to plant, but to nurture the trees together with our community stakeholders, “ said Jason Gavina, Community Relations Head-Luzon of MGreen.
On the other hand, Jonnalyn Alcolea, School Head of Pinugay Elementary School, expressed her gratitude to PHRI for engaging their school particularly the boy and girl scout students in the tree-planting activity which helped them understand the importance of planting trees and develop love and concern for the environment.
The One for Trees program is the flagship environmental program of One Meralco that targets to plant and grow five million trees by 2025 to contribute to the government’s greening efforts. As a member of the One Meralco Group, PHRI is one in powering the good life of the Filipinos through meaningful partnerships that promote environmental preservation.
PHRI is constructing a 75 MWac solar project in Baras, Rizal which is scheduled to commence commercial operations within the first quarter of 2023.
